Sintered Neodymium Iron Boron

 

Sintered NdFeB is the strongest commercially available magnetic material. A £1 coin sized disc can lift 10kg opening up a lot of design opportunities as long as it’s temperature and corrosion constraints are taken into account.

With over 30 years of continuous development the Neodymium Iron Boron Family has evolved over 40 grades based on the maximum Energy Product and Operating Temperature. Some factories are now offering Energy Products of 52 MGOe and Operating temperatures as high as 240ºC. NiCuNi, Zn and Epoxy coatings can be applied to help protect the magnets from rusting.

Bonded Neodymium Iron Boron

 

This isotropic resin bonded Neodymium-Iron-Boron material offers a high energy product attached pdf between Ferrite and Sintered NdFeB. Application's include sensors and precision motors because it can be produced in complex shapes and magnetisation patterns. Capable of operating up to 120ºC, these magnets may be machined provided that adequate coolant is applied and can be supplied epoxy coated to protect from corrosion.
