Ferrite magnets were first developed in Tokyo in 1930, decades before neodymium magnets were discovered. However, it wasn’t until the 1950s that ferrite magnets started being mass produced, popularised by their resistance to corrosion and low production costs. Although they only operate at a tenth of the strength of neodymium magnets, they’re a popular choice when a stronger magnet isn’t required. They’re also more resistant to corrosion and can withstand higher temperatures.

Here at MagDev, we supply a variety of ferrite disc magnets, ranging from small 10mm diameter options to larger 38mm diameter sizes, with dozens of more options if you contact us directly. Whatever your project or industry, we’re sure to have a magnetic solution to suit. We also offer bespoke hard ferrite magnets, engineered to your specifications.
