Ferrite Ring Magnets
Ferrite ring magnets, also known as ceramic magnets, are a type of permanent magnet made from rusted iron (iron oxide). Due to the low production costs of iron, ferrite ring magnets are more affordable than rare-earth magnets, making them a popular choice for applications that don’t require the strength of magnets like neodymium. They’re also highly resistant to corrosion.
Some common applications of ferrite magnets include fridge magnets and novelty items, security systems, medical instruments and motors. Ferrite ring magnets are particularly handy for use in loudspeakers, conveyor systems and magnetic rollers, filtration systems and can frequently be found in the printing and manufacturing industry.
Although they only operate at one-tenth of the strength of neodymium magnets, ferrite ring magnets remain a popular choice due to their affordability. They can also operate at much higher temperatures than neodymium, able to withstand heat of up to 250°C, making them essential for a wide range of everyday and specialist applications.
