Neodymium Disc Magnets
Neodymium disc magnets have a wide range of applications, from engineering and industrial uses to complex art and design projects. Made from an alloy of neodymium, iron and boron, neodymium magnets are the strongest and most widely-used type of permanent magnets available commercially. Commonly used for lifting, sensing, filtering and powering in a wide range of industries, these versatile disc magnets have incredible holding power. They’re also used for a variety of end applications, such as furniture, display units, electric motors and jewellery.
We have a selection of neodymium disc magnets to choose from, including everything from tiny 1mm-thick discs to larger 15mm-thick magnets. There are two types of neodymium magnets available: sintered neodymium and bonded neodymium. The type you’ll need depends on the application.
Sintered neodymium (NdFeB) is the stronger of the two options. A £1-coin-sized sintered neodymium disc magnet can lift 10kg, opening up a whole host of design opportunities. It can also work at a higher temperature than bonded neodymium, with some options capable of operating at up to 240 ºC.
If you need a magnet in a complex magnetisation pattern, bonded neodymium magnets are more suitable. Ideal for sensors and precision motors, these magnets are capable of operating at up to 120ºC, as long as you apply adequate cooling.
